The Annual Bardic Trials 2022

Venue: York House Centre, London Road, Stony Stratford York House Centre, London Road, Stony Stratford
Date: 21 Jan 2022
Time: 19:30 to - 23:00

Yes, it has been a long time hasn't it? January 2020 to be precise, when you appointed the 10th Bard of Stony Stratford Andy Powell. Then the
pandemic intervened. The Bardic Council doubled the Bard's usual term of A Year and a Day, but the time has come... to talk of many things: of he's and she's - and lyrical wax - of intents and metal voting rings. Yes, it is indeed time to begin our search for the next Bard of Stony Stratford (11th).

Can you write and sing your own songs, rap, make people laugh, create and tell a story, or write poetry? If you have one of these skills we would like to hear from you. Most of all we need Bardic candidates who care about Stony Stratford. You'll be creating material and performing at civic events. Please check out our website: www.bardofstony@weebly.com for information about being Bard and full application details.

Do you hanker after wearing a long flowing cloak and carrying a 2 metre pencil? Then it could be you! Of course you'll have to compete for it, and win the Bardhood in open competition before the good people of Stony Stratford on January 21st 2022 at York House. You'll need to be 18 years of age (if you are under 18 we will be looking for Junior and Youth Bards next Summer) and live within a day's walk of Stony (about 12 miles). There's also a Bardic Oath which you'll need to uphold (dragons are not involved) and you'll be in for a busy time. You'll get support from the Bardic Council and there are ten past Bards to ask for advice. In fact you can't throw a stick on the High Street without hitting a Bard. Becoming Bard won't make you rich, except in friendship, but we can guarantee a memorable year.

We shall also need an audience to cheer on the candidates and to vote for their choice. Please come to York House Centre on Friday 21st January 2022 7.30pm - 11pm (doors 7.15pm). It's free!
