Stony Words: 100 Years Fighting for Social Justice - Talk by Living Archive MK
Venue: Stony Stratford Library, 5-7 Church Street, Stony Stratford
Date: 31 Jan 2018
Time: 19:00
To mark the centenary of the Labour Party in the Milton Keynes area, Marion Hill and Roger Kitchen of Living Archive MK present some nuggets of its history: its creation amid the Great War and ensuing strikes; its survival through the Great Depression and a Second World War; its transformative policies of the Welfare State; and its traumas of the poisonous infighting of the Robert Maxwell era. There are also edited film interviews of modern Labour Party activists since the coming of the New City, including MK’s two most recent Labour MPs and current politicians and supporters.
