Stony Stratford Lantern Project 2019: Lantern Making Session
Venue: York House Centre, London Road, Stony Stratford
Date: 16 Nov 2019 - 17 Nov 2019
Time: 10:00 to - 16:00
Anyone can make a lantern (although young children will need help). Our lanterns are made from willow withies and masking tape which is then covered with colourful tissue paper and PVA glue and lit from within by a candle or fairy lights.
The 2019 theme will be ‘Jungle Bells!’ – loads of scope for all sorts of jungle animals, exotic birds, frogs, snakes, beautiful flowers, very child-friendly....so get your thinking caps on for some fun and colourful creations!
On Switch-On Day (Saturday 30 November) we all meet at York House to collect our lanterns. As darkness falls, the lanterns are lit, and the procession makes its way through the crowd-lined streets of Stony Stratford to the Market Square in time for the switching-on of the Christmas lights...magical!
Lantern Making Sessions are held over 2 weekends at York House Centre, London Road, Stony Stratford, MK11 1JQ:-
Sat 16 & Sun 17 November 10.00am til 4.00pm
Sat 23 & Sun 24 November 10.00am til 4.00pm
A cafe runs all day at the York House sessions for hot and cold drinks, snacks and light lunches.
