Stony Stratford Christmas Lights Switch-On Fun Day

The immensely popular Christmas Lights Switch On Fun Day will be held on Saturday, 1st December. Stony’s Christmas Lights display, launched with a magical family day of Christmas fun, is one of the best around!

Every Christmas Stony Stratford glitters and shines with magical, twinkling lights, and excitement builds as the festive season is officially launched following the town’s Christmas Lights Switch-On Fun Day. During the run up to Christmas, the shops, pubs, hotels and businesses with viewable window space put up window displays, as Stony Stratford Business Association organise a competition for the best window to be chosen by the public. For several weekends during November, you will see a cheerful team of volunteers dangling from ladders, testing light bulbs in trees, erecting trees and lights all over the town and generally enjoying making Stony Stratford look beautiful.

During the Fun Day, there will be stalls in the High Street and Market Place all day, along with Morris dancing and other street entertainers, a vibrant fun fair for all ages and our music event, WatlingFest. Each year we have a wealth of local musical talent performing on the stage in the Market Square from about midday to 4.20pm. There is always a good mix of musical genres to meet everyone’s taste. The lantern parade will meander down London Road to the High Street as it gets dark, then the lights will be turned on as celebrations are set in full swing!’
