Robert Poole is the author of Peterloo – The English Uprising and of Peterloo: The Graphic Novel. He is Professor of History at the University of Central Lancashire.
In this illustrated talk, he will give a new and detailed account of the landmark event In Manchester in August 1819 that shaped the development of democracy in Britain. He will also look at Mike Leigh’s recent film on the subject, for which he was an adviser, and how a graphic novel came to explore the events.

The talk will be followed by a performance of Peterloo and Its Legacy by members of the Stony Stratford Theatre Society.
