King Arthur – The Making of a Legend – Nicholas Higham.

Was there ever a real King Arthur? In this talk based on his book, Nicholas Higham looks at the suggested Arthurian links with Greece, Dalmatia and the Steppes. He also shows how Welsh clerics rewrote the past to bolster local morale (nothing new there!). This new account helps us to understand the historical origins of a legendary figure who still haunts our present.

Nicholas Higham is Professor Emeritus in History at the University of Manchester. His books include King Arthur: Myth-Making and History and The Anglo-Saxon World.

Copies of the book will be for sale and signing.

Organiser: Rob and Liz Gifford
