The first FoSSL event in the new year will be on Tuesday 29 January 2019, when, as part of Stony Words 2019, the author M.R. Carey will talk about his work. Writing as M.R. Carey, he has published three acclaimed novels, The Girl With All the Gifts, Fellside and, most recently, The Boy on the Bridge, all with Orbit. As Mike Carey he is well known for his five-novel Felix Castor series, as well as for runs on Lucifer, Hellblazer and X-Men for DC Comics and Marvel Comics. The feature film The Girl With All the Gifts, starring Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, Paddy Considine and Sennia Nanua and with a screenplay by M.R. Carey, was released in 2016.
Tickets for the talk will be available at the Library (tel. 01908-562562) nearer the time. There is no charge for tickets, but FoSSL is grateful to accept donations to cover costs and to support activities at the Library.
As always, wine, fruit juice and home-made cake will be served after the talk.
