Friends of Stony Stratford Library: Charles Dickens and Christmas Talk

Venue: Stony Stratford Library, 5-7 Church Street, Stony StratfordStony Stratford Library, 5-7 Church Street, Stony Stratford
Date: 06 Dec 2017
Time: 19:00

Bill Prescott will give a talk at Stony Stratford Library entitled 'Charles Dickens and Christmas'.

Tickets will be available at the Library from Wednesday 15 November. As always, wine, fruit juice and home-made cake will be served after the talk. There is no charge for tickets, but we invite donations on the evening to cover costs. Bill has suggested that in view of the subject-matter of his talk, it would be appropriate on this occasion for the balance to be passed on to a Milton Keynes charity for the homeless, and the FoSSL committee has readily agreed to his suggestion.

Bill Prescott was Professor of Educational Development at the Open University, and since retirement has lectured  - often, as Friends will know, at Stony Stratford Library - on a wide range of topics, usually involving the relationships between art, literature and music. Most recently he has spoken on aspects of the cultural history of Oxford, on the art and music of the First World War, on Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice and on Shakespeare and music.
