Friends of Stony Stratford Library - Emmanuel Chabrier: From Reluctant Civil Servant to Neglected Composer

Venue: Online via ZoomOnline via Zoom
Date: 07 Jul 2020
Time: 19:00

Following his interesting and well received talk for us last year, Joe Laredo has prepared his talk scheduled for Tuesday 7th July at 7pm, and will be delivering it online via zoom. Here are the details of the talk and a bit about Joe himself:

Joe Laredo, who lives in Stony Stratford, is a professional writer, translator and copy-editor and a keen amateur musician. This is his second talk for FoSSL, following last year's entertaining presentation on the American composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk. The French composer Emmanuel Chabrier led an equally colourful life, which Joe will recount with quotations from Chabrier's letters and other contemporary records and plenty of musical examples – including music by Debussy, Wagner and other composers as well as Chabrier himself.

The talk is free and you don't even have to leave home; all you need to do is click on the link that will be sent to you and enjoy.

This will be our first trial at delivering talks to you this way, but it does give us the chance to get together, at least virtually and even without the home made cake. If you'd like to watch the talk, please would you reply by email to: fosslmk@gmail.com as soon as possible and I will send you the details and the link to follow before 7pm on 7th July. Click here to see the poster for the talk.

Stay well and best wishes
