FoSSL Talk: Art Quilting - From Conception to Creation Talk
Venue: Stony Stratford Library, 5-7 Church Street, Stony Stratford MK11 1BD
Date: 03 May 2022
Time: 19:00
On Tuesday 3rd May at 7pm, we welcome Anna Woodhead, Stony based textile artist, to talk to us on her work. Her topic is: Art Quilting: From Conception to Creation, and here is her description of the subject:
"The art quilt is a creative visual work which draws on the traditions of quilting but uses a range of media, materials and techniques to create original works of art. In this illustrated talk I will share the inspiration and techniques behind the work I create and offer an insight into this wonderfully diverse art medium."
Anna is a textile artist working with fabric, paper and mixed media. Taking blank cloth as her starting point, she builds a palette of colour and texture by dyeing, painting and printing. This cloth becomes her art quilts, through a process of collage, piecing, and stitching.
Tickets will be available from the Library from Tuesday 19th April. You will need to visit in person to collect yours or you can phone: 01908 562562
As usual we make no charge for these talks, but would ask for donations to help cover the costs involved. Wine, soft drinks and delicious home made cakes will be available after the talk.
