Admission of the public and media
The Council welcomes members of the public to its meetings in accordance with the Public Bodies (Admission to Meeting) Act 1960. Members of the public may make representations, answer questions and give evidence at a meeting which they are entitled to attend in respect of business on the agenda (SSTC Standing Orders 3e).

Details are posted on the notice boards around the town and they are also listed on the back of The Town Crier newsletter. The Town Clerk, Lynne Compton, attends all of the meetings to make sure that decisions are taken legally and then carried out properly (the Deputy Town Clerk, Amanda Jones, attends the Projects meetings). The Town Clerk also advises the councillors on policy regulations and regularly talks to local and regional authorities on the Council's behalf.
