Update: free summer 2020 play sessions WILL take place

Stony Stratford Town Council is very pleased to announce that the summer play schemes run by Milton Keynes Play Association will take place this year. They will be hosted by the Town Council at Wolverton Road Recreational Ground and Spider Park, Fullers Slade (dates below). Due to Government guidelines the schemes will run a little differently this year: each play day will be divided into 25-minute sessions. These sessions will take place in sectioned off activity areas. Each activity area has space for up to six children per session. These 25-minute sessions will run throughout the day. Places on these sessions must be pre-booked with MKPA.

There will be handwashing facilities and hand sanitizer available and all equipment will be fully sanitized in-between 25-minute sessions. YOU MUST BOOK YOUR CHILDRENS’ PLACE ON A SESSION BEFOREHAND. To book your place go to the MKPA website and click the button at the bottom:

Wolverton Road Rec: Fridays: 31st July, 14th August, and 28th August.

Spider Park: Fridays: 7th August and 21st August.

Times: 10.30am – 4.30pm (last slot 4pm)

Please note: due to Coronavirus MK Dons are not running their normal programme of free summer sports sessions in the parishes, therefore the Town Council is not able to provide free sports sessions this year.

The Town Council are commited to providing free play and sports sessions in the school holidays for local children.

We currently run play sessions with the Milton Keynes Play Association (MKPA) and sports sessions with MK Dons in the Easter and Summer holidays. In 2020 the Council extended these services to run in the February Half Term as well.

Outdoor play sessions are held at Calverton End Park and Wolverton Road Recreation Ground in Stony Stratford and Spider Park, Fullers Slade. At each play session MKPA provide a large inflatable, engaging craft activities and different fun sports. These are open access sessions for all from pre-school age up to teenagers.

The sports sessions with MK Dons are kindly hosted by Stony Stratford Football Club and offer a variety of outdoor sports such as football, tag rugby and kwik cricket. Indoor sports sessions have also been held in the winter months.

Dates for the Easter and summer holiday play sessions will be available in the events calendar on our website and Facebook page nearer the time.
