Improvement Works in Stony Stratford

Stony Stratford Town Council have been working closely with Milton Keynes Council (and their contractors, Ringway), Stony Stratford Business Association (SSBA) and local organisations for plans to utilise MKC Government Grant Funds for Stony Stratford. This includes improvement works on the High Street, Market Square, Horsefair Green and the area adjacent to the shops in Galley Hill. We are delighted to update you on the work as follows:
Horsefair Green – The rail that had come off has been replaced and painted. The 7 damaged wooden posts around the war memorial have been replaced and the chains re-attached.
Barford, Galley Hill – Work is substantially complete: The bollard has been straightened and just needs to be painted and the final handrails up to the play area/guard rail panels outside the shop will be repainted.
Market Square – Cycle racks, railings around tree, sign and ends of benches have been painted. We are just waiting for some gold paint to finish these off. Bollards have been painted apart from the ones which are being straightened. A section of linear drain has been replaced. Further work will include relaying the blocks in the car park beside the chemist, staining wooden struts on the benches and replacing one missing. Painting the lamp columns will be done at the same time as the work in the High Street.
High Street – The High Street is being closed after Christmas to do some work on the footways, so replacing/straightening the bollards and painting signs/bollards/benches will be done at the same time.
Our wonderful town will have a lovely facelift for the New Year!
