First Thursday Folk Dance

The First Thursday Folk Dance group started earlier this year and was paused during the summer. It’s an opportunity for folk musicians and dancers to meet, play music and dance from (predominantly) Britain, on a very informal basis. There’s no official band. Our musicians just come along and decide amongst themselves which tunes to play. Similarly with the dancing; anyone who wants to ‘call’ a dance can do so. Just one rule applies to the event and that is: no amplified instruments.

The first meeting after the summer break will be 7th September at Swinfen Harris Church Hall in London Road, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, and meetings will be held every first Thursday of the month after that.
