Remembrance Parade

Important Update regarding the Remembrance Parade (2nd November 2020):

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Unfortunately, the news that we are to enter a second Lockdown from Midnight on Wednesday, 4th November the careful plans we had made for a limited Observance of the Act of Remembrance on the 8th November this year has now had to be cancelled with the Government’s requirement that Public Worship cease until the 2nd December.

Brian Kite (of the Lions Club) and I have agreed that those who normally lay wreaths will be given the opportunity to do so individually at an unadvertised time in the Parish Church, and that in due course, the wreaths will be conveyed, without Ceremony, but with dignity, to the War Memorial and placed thereon. This is the best we can do in the circumstances without being seen to encourage people to gather.

What I would encourage us all to do to mark this important day in the year is that we stand on our doorsteps as the bells at St Mary & St Giles strike the 11thhour and observe ‘The Silence’ for two minutes, at the end of which I shall toll a single church bell.

The Parish Church will be open for private prayer only from 10:30am to 11:30am on Sunday 8thNovember and at other times to be advertised during the Lockdown.

With my prayers and every blessing,
Fr Ross
