International Pipe and Tabor Festival

The pipe and tabor festival comes to Stony Stratford - a great chance to enjoy the lyrical melodies and pulsating drive of pipe and tabor!
8.00 – 11.00pm – CONCERT (£7.50) with bar - Revel in uplifting music from Juana Etchegoin (music of the Basque Country – txirula & ttun ttun (pipe and string drum) & txistu & danbolin (pipe and tabor)), dancing of energetic and excellent morris jigs from Ollie Simons, and pipe and tabor performances from the cream of the Taborers Society.
12.40 – 1.40pm PIPE AND TABOR BEGINNER’S WORKSHOP (£10 including D pipe or free if you bring your own) – Enjoy basic tune work including Shepherd’s Hey to be used in the next workshop…
1.50 – 2.50pm PLAYING FOR MORRIS JIGS WORKSHOP – Experience playing for great jigs with Mary Jo Searle and dancer Ollie Simons.
3.00 – 4.15pm – PLAYING FOR EARLY DANCE WORKSHOP (with Bill Tuck, Barbara Segal, Andy Richards & Helen Richards) - Have fun playing for 15th and 16th century dance, learning tunes by ear with dance emphasis. Players of any acoustic instruments that can play in G, D and Em and blend into a band will be very welcome! Music will be available at http://www.pipeandtabor.org.
4.30 – 6.30pm – EARLY DANCE WORKSHOP (with Bill Tuck, Barbara Segal, Andy Richards & Helen Richards) – Have fun dancing 15th and 16th century dances, no partner required, if you can move in time to music with a sense of humour then this is for you! Music will be by players from the Playing for Early Dance Workshop.
