Construction of New Pedestrian Underpass between Whitehouse and Two Mile Ash

Mon 10 Jun 2019 - posted by Melanie Hyde

Construction of a new pedestrian underpass between Whitehouse and Two Mile Ash on the V4 Watling Street will start next week (10 June 2019) – with completion in spring 2020.

The underpass is part of a wider scheme for the Western Expansion Area (WEA) pedestrian crossings.

Please see the ‘General Arrangement’ plan here which shows the location.

This is a major engineering project with many major services and utilities which will be required to be diverted. Anglian Water will be on site constructing a new pipeline along the V4 from the H3 to H4 to ensure that the water pressure is maintained for residents and to plan for the future growth of the WEA.  We are also working with L&Q Estates (previously known as Gallagher Estates) to support the next phase of Western Expansion Area.

The road between Crownhill roundabout (H4) and Fairways roundabout (H3) will be closed to allow construction works to take place, and the redway along this stretch of road will also be diverted.  Please see diversion plans here for your information. These will be reviewed throughout the works to minimise any disruption.
