Family Picnic At The Big Lunch

History of The Big Lunch

On Monday, 4 June 2012 Stony Stratford Town Council held two events to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee; the Stony Diamond Fun Run and the Big Jubilee Lunch. Due to the popularity of these events, and the extremely positive feedback that the Town Council received, we have decided to make The Big Lunch an annual event.

The Stony Diamond Fun Run and Big Jubilee Lunch were an enormous success. With a family fun run, a community picnic lunch, traditional fair rides, good old British fish and chips, a pig roast, ice-creams and scrumptious cream teas, miniature ponies, Morris dancing, live music, vegetable planting for children and more, there really was something for everyone!

The Big Lunch is a get together for neighbours across the UK, in Stony we involved the whole parish.

The Big Lunch and Apple Day are now part of the events that take place on a annual basis for the enjoyment of the community. If anyone would like to asisst these events as a volunteer on the day it would be very much appreciated. If you wish to do so please contact Councillor Keith Tilley at: [email protected].
