The Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations - Street Closures for Street Parties

Hello Parish Councils and Local Ward Members, As I am sure you are all aware, on 21st April 2016 the Queen will be celebrating her 90th birthday. In preparation of public celebrations and the desire for some residents to host a street party, the Council would like toNetvIassist them with any necessary road closures in order to ensure that their event is held without any danger from motorists. Therefore I have prepared this email so that you may provide the necessary information for the residents of your parish/ward to apply for a road closure in order to host a street party. Anyone wishing to hold a street party (and therefore the need to close a road) will need to submit their application to me (quoting reference TTRO-730). I have prepared a simple application form, unique to this event, for members of public. All applications will be considered and checked for any potential conflicts on the highway and if/once approved will be included in the temporary traffic regulation Order. The road closure applications will be free of charge and all applicants will be sent a receipt of their application and informed whether or not their application has been successful. The Council will advise any unsuccessful applicants of its reasons for refusal and will try to assist them in a possible resolution. I have provided a list below showing the reasons for refusing an application:- • The speed limit is greater than 30mph. • The road space has been reserved for works to be carried out on the highway. • The application form was received out of time. • The physical measures that the applicant intends to use in order to close the road are not adequate and/or safe. My team will assist the applicant as best as we can to ensure a successful outcome for their application. Please find attached a copy of the application form. Any applications for will need to be completed and returned to me no later than 18th March 2016. This will then allow the Councils TRO Team enough time to add the road closure to the temporary traffic regulation Order and carry out the necessary statutory process. I have provided my details at the end of this email for all enquiries relating to this event.
