Friends of Stony Stratford Library (FOSSL)

********* SAVE OUR LIBRARY CAMPAIGN ************

Friends of Stony Stratford Library proactively co-ordinated a campaign to Save Stony Library.

They organised the successful Wot No Books Campaign (12-15 Jan 2011) to empty the library in protest to the possible threat of closure to the library.

The shelves are empty in the WOT NO BOOKS CAMPAIGN TO SAVE OUR LIBRARY

This received regional press, tv and radio coverage.

The friends organisation was set up in 2002 to represent library users when MK Council was considereing changes to the service.

From time to time events are organised. The Friends keep in touch with the national library campaign which is the lobby organisation to central government on library policy and practice.

The Friends of Stony Stratford Library have a programme of regular events and exhibitions. These will mark significant anniversaries and local literary and historical connections, as well as being a showcase for Stony clubs and societies – so do contact us if you have an idea for an exhibition and would like to book the space.
